Express Polish
Express Polish is excellent for cars that have paint in overall good condition, but need a shine up. A high quality polish is used, applied by machine and hand. Any polishing requires the paint to be cleaned prior, and is highly recommended the paint decontaminated also.(See package prices.)
Decontaminating Paint
Over time, it is not unusual for automotive paint finishes to become slightly rough to the touch due to the gradual accumulation of various surface contaminants that are too firmly bonded to be removed by normal washing alone. Clay blocking is a procedure that removes those surface contaminants left that washing cant remove. There are several benefits to your paintwork being blocked, including restoring your paintwork to a full surface clean by removing surface grime and giving your paintwork that slick smooth finish. Clay blocking does not polish your paintwork but clean it. This prepares the paint for further work such as cut polish if there is sub-surface damage or a gloss polish to bring your paint to its ultimate shine.

Machine Buff/Polish
As a car ages, its paintwork can begin to breakdown or deteriorate if not kept protected. Many environments and exposures can also increase the rate of paint deterioration, such as exposure to the elements - sun, salt air, and wind. Also paint can be damaged or broken down from non environmental contaminants and actions - water staining (acid rain), pollutants, scratches, and machine marks. The two main results of paint deterioration are, the surface of the clear coat or top coat being damaged, resulting in marks in the coating. Or the actual clear coat or top coat begins to breakdown or "chalk" due to exposure.
When paintwork is cut or buffed it is abrading the top coat away removing the imperfections. A normal car on average would have less than a hair thickness of top coat. So restoration on the paint as abrasive as cutting is only recommended a few times before buffing through the top coat completely. Some marks and imperfections will not be able to be completely removed depending on the depth and size. Cutting the paint will expose a fresh layer of top coat removing minor imperfections and chalking. During the cutting process the abrasives will leave marks or swirls in the paint from the process. These need to be polished out using a mild cutter/polish to give the paint work clarity and depth. The polish also protects the exposed coating. It is recommended that once the paint has been cut to a satisfactory finish and polished. The top or clear coat should be sealed with a paint protection product to protect the paint from further exposure. |
